How Do I - Lee Ryan

There she goes once again
The ghost of our love, it's making me shiver
It's only small drops of pain,
But even the rain can turn into rivers
Thought i'd be safe, living behind this wall
But the pressures too much, and it's starting to fall

So how do i get over you
How do i survive living half the life that i knew
Oh how do i get over you?
When you take away
Everything i held to be true
I wonder if you feel it too, do you?

Everywhere that i turn, there's something there
Something to remind me
When i sleep it's alone, still i reach out
As if you're beside me
Tried to move on, tried to find something new
But everything that i did
Is something we used to do

So how do i get over you
How do i survive living half the life that i knew
Oh how do i get over you?
When you take away
Everything i held to be true
I wonder if you feel it too, do you?

Seems like every place, every person we knew
Every sound every taste, reminds me of you
I thought this would be gone, but it's still so strong
I keep holding on, what else can i do?

So how do i get over you
How do i survive living half the life that i knew
Oh how do i get over you?
When you take away
Everything i held to be true
I wonder if you feel it too, do you?

Reader request: Song analysis of How Do I - Lee Ryan

Interesting song. The rhythm of the song is very soothing and smooth, one kind of imagine a beach with waves hitting the rocks and watching a woman in a long white dress fading away with the guy still standing. The song gives the chill of the woman being -taken- away and he is having a hard time to let go. Somehow he is struggling in the greyzone as if he knows its too late to find someone since he is lost about her. Mostly because he is referring to the memories of her...
Been listening to this song a few times on replay and it's sad. That he can't move on.
When he sings: It's only small drops of pain, But even the rain can turn into rivers  means that the more you bring up the past the stronger the emotions and feeling get, making it harder for you to move on .
Thought i'd be safe, living behind this wall, But the pressures too much, and it's starting to fall - describing that even the strongest can crack, and that everyone needs to have a real guard off in order to let the wound heal, because if you keep opening and reminding yourself you're making your soul suffer since it doesn't get any peace and neither does hers. He keeps asking himself How do I get over you over and over again and that gives a quite cold impression of her. Why did she leave him when he loved her so much?
Finally it is rather interesting that he was never sure about her feelings this because he keeps asking do you?  there is a sense of doubt and despair involved.
Okay folks thank you for reading and I'll hear from you soon
G'Night~

  1. I like your analysis....but I was thinking maybe the woman he loved died and he still can't move on. I think he's asking if she is seeing him and missing him even though she's dead. Obviously he still loves her and something tells me she used to love him dearly too otherwise it wouldn't be so hard to move on for him// Nonno :)
