“Holy crap, how did I get so lucky?”
“Wait for someone who says, “Holy crap, how did I get so lucky?” when you walk in the door, absolutely exhausted from work at 6pm after being married for 30 years. Wait for that, it’s more than worth it.”

7 Key Insights on Self Love
1.
I need to affirm and to validate myself as it’s hard to accept validation from others if, deep down inside, I don’t believe it’s true.
2.
My time is valuable as anybody else’s so I need to prioritise what I need to do.
3.
I can’t give to others, and help to build them up, if I’m not taking care of my own self first.
4.
I need to remember that I’m worthy of love, of success, opportunities, and knowing happiness.
5.
My opinions are as valuable as anybody else’s. It’s up to me to decide and to choose my own beliefs.
6.
I don’t have to explain why I do what I do (unless you’re the police or have some authority!)
7.
My past does not define me - I’m free to change and grow, to try on different “me”s, and to set inspiring goals.

10 Tips for Making Friends
1. Listen to people when they’re talking; show an interest in what they have to say.
2. Make an effort to remember peoples’ names and use them the next time you meet them.
3. Follow up with people you are interested in staying in touch with. Call them up, send them an email or arrange to meet for a coffee or drink.
4. Treat everyone the same – and as if they are the most important in the world (at least while you are talking to them).
5. Get involved in clubs and activities. Force yourself to go out and be with others.
6. In conversations, stick to safe topics before you know someone well. Don’t be quick to share your political or religious views, or to go on about your pet grievances.
7. Make sure you come across as someone who’s friendly the first time you meet someone new. Greet them warmly, smile, share your name and ask them theirs.
8. Be aware of other peoples’ culture and be sensitive to any potential differences. You don’t want to offend other people – either deliberately or inadvertently. The goal is to be seen as a person who is friendly, respectful and warm.
9. Don’t rush your interactions with people as that sends the message that you’re not interested in them, or what they have to say.
10. Don’t be false – just be your normal self. People would prefer to find out who you are.

How to be a Genuine and Fun-Loving Person
1. Value and respect the fact that you are a totally unique individual, with your own destiny to fulfill. Believe in who you are, what you think and believe, your gifts and talents, and what you have to offer to those around you.
2. Refuse to give into negative feelings of anxiety, self doubt or insecurity. In fact, “fake it till you make it” is often good advice … So, ignore how you feel, and act the way you want to be. Choose to switch off the old tapes that keep on playing in your head, and try to visualize your goals and then push on and seek to reach them.
3. Don’t pay any attention to what others think about you. The most important judgment should be yours, and yours alone. If you live in constant fear of what others think about you, it will only hold you back from realizing your potential. Also, you’re not a clone of others as each of us is different. Don’t be afraid to be unique or to stand out against the crowd.
4. Accept that you have good points, and areas for growth. We’re all a mix of different qualities, and flaws, and traits. We all make mistakes – it’s what you do with them matters – so embrace the fact you’re human and won’t always get it right.
5. Also, develop a tough skin and don’t take insults personally. Look back and laugh – don’t cower – or criticise yourself. It won’t help if you’re sensitive or worried all the time. It’s better to forgive yourself, and then move on again.
6. Develop your ability to think creatively. Try out those new ideas, and choose to live outside the box.
7. Seek to enjoy this moment, and to live life in the present. Be grateful for the small things, and savour all you have.

"Mom, why do the best people die?"

I. TsunamiThe moment I realised I liked you, I told myself I couldn’t. A plethora of reasons forbade me to do so but the heart wants what it wants. I plunged headfirst into the ocean of you; swam in my hopes and dreams, only to drown in my emotions every time I swim ashore to reality. You are the tsunami of emotions that I feel when I look into your eyes.
II. Earthquake
Albeit the warnings of the danger that looms, my heart was stubborn and foolish. The more time I spent with you, the more I learned about you, and the more I fell. What I wasn’t prepared for was the sudden magnitude of feelings I had for you, even after the tremors subsided.
You are an earthquake that has shattered my soul.
III. Tornado
That night, you kissed me with beautiful words and false hope. Empty promises whispered into my ear that would dance across my skin. I was swept up in your lies, my feet above the ground as I soar high above the city lights. I spiralled out of control and fell down to earth —wrecked.
You are a tornado that destroyed me.
IV. Drought
I hate to admit it but after you left, my heart cracked on every path you have walked on. A now barren land, incapable of supporting new life. How could you breed love when you lacked the necessity that kept it alive? The tears kept on falling even though I was parched.
You are the drought in your leaving.
V. Flood
Time passed and I have learned to heal by stitching the broken pieces with threads of sentences and patches of paragraphs. Writing is my remedy but why is it every time I pick up my pen, all I ever write about is you?
You are the flood of memories that haunts my mind.

Shame on you
You can't force someone to be in your life and then say "Thank you." It's like holding a gun to the side of a petrified person. What isn't given freely is never yours to have.
